News of the new fighting game/comic book cross over Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has been scarce as of late, but Midway has released some fresh pics for anxiously awaiting fans.
For those of you who haven’t heard about the game, just picture heroes the likes of Batman and Superman going up against Sub-Zero and other Kombatants in multi-tiered arenas with all new fighting styles like Freefall Kombat and Klose Kombat to make the fights all the more interesting.
Each character from both universes will support their own list of signature attacks and very distinct finishing moves, “tapping into the true Mortal Kombat experience.” This combined with the two new mechanics will definitely change the MK fighting style. Freefall Kombat allows players to battle in mid-air while falling from one arena to the next, while Klose Kombat not only lets you deal damage in a more close up and brutal way, but you will see the enemy’s bruises start to appear along with torn clothing and other visual elements that go beyond a simple health bar.
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will also feature a new single player mode. You start your storyline experience by choosing a character from one of the two universes, and that character’s unique story intertwine with the other stories across both realms. This will, of course, set up some very special signature fights.
The game’s fighting locations have also had a lot of work done to them. Not only will you fight in a few iconic locations like Gotham City and Metropolis, or Hell and Graveyard from the MK games, but there are also a few never-before-seen arenas that will combine the two universes like never before.
And, what solid next-gen fighting game wouldn’t be complete without online play. On both the PS3 and Xbox 360, you will be able to challenge your friends across the internet.
Expect to see Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe this Fall with an ESRB rating of T for Teen. |
